NICK EGAN
ICONIC FILMMAKER AND VISUAL ARTIST
SPECIAL
PROJECTS
Iconic British filmmaker and visual artist, Nick Egan has been a vital part of the pop culture landscape since he burst upon the London scene in the 1980’s. His groundbreaking design work, including album covers and T shirts for seminal punk bands such as The Clash and The Ramones, led to a long collaboration with Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, with Nick art directing many of Ms. Westwood’s fashion shows and album covers for the band Bow Wow Wow and Duck Rock and Fans with Mr. McLaren.
Egan moved to New York in the mid eighties and continued his meteoric rise in the design world, creating album covers for Iggy Pop, and art directing books by John Lennon and Bob Dylan. He also started working closely with designer Marc Jacobs on his first collection. The pair also collaborated on Sonic Youth’s “Sugar Kane” video starring a young Chloe Sevigny.
With the advent of MTV, Nick moved to Los Angeles and soon positioned himself as one of the world’s best and most awarded video directors, working closely with INXS, Duran Duran, Alanis Morissette, Oasis, Motley Crue, Mick Jagger, Kyle Minogue and Rod Stewart among many other musical superstars. He also directed commercials for brands such as Coca Cola, Nike and Sony Playstation and directed the feature film, “Red Light Runners” starring Harvey Keitel and Michael Madsen.
Nick Egan is available by special arrangement for art direction, film, commercial and video direction, as well as fashion and graphic design projects. He is currently consulting on the Street culture exhibit, “Style In Revolt” which will take place in Beijing this November.
